Following the European elections in June 2024, the European Union has established a set of strategic priorities that will shape its political and policy agenda until 2029. These priorities aim to tackle the pressing challenges faced by the EU and its citizens, reflecting a collective vision forged through dialogue among EU leaders, national ministers, EU institutions, and the newly elected European Parliament.
The European Council, in its June 2024 meeting, outlined three key priority areas in the EU’s 2024-2029 strategic agenda. This agenda will guide the work of EU institutions over the next five years, with a focus on enhancing Europe’s sovereignty and resilience in the face of ongoing and emerging challenges.
The strategic agenda will serve as a blueprint for the European Commission’s upcoming political priorities, ensuring that the EU is better prepared to address future crises and maintain its leadership on the global stage.
